After a short stint as a senior adviser and speechwriter for Bill Bradley 's presidential campaign and as an author, Richard Stengel returns to journalism as managing editor of Time. com. "I was a journalist taking a temporary hiatus in politics. It was really an act of the heart rather than a career move," Stengel, 44, says. His work with Bradley's campaign was fascinating, he adds, because he was able to see the inner workings of politics up close and know every move in advance. He rejoins his old employerÐStengel left a senior political writer position with Time in 1998 for the campaign trail and for work on his new book, "You're Too Kind: A Brief History of Flattery." As for his new gig, he says: "The stuff now that is exciting in journalism is online. I want to make the site Webbier, more fun, visually arresting and more personal."
