Manipulating Photos

Sherry Ricchiardi's piece on Photoshop doctoring was most interesting and enlightening ("Distorted Picture," August/ September.) I'll never take a zit off a homecoming queen's face again. Perhaps Sherry could follow up with how television news manipulates its videography.

Working for a very small weekly, it is sometimes difficult to get across ideas of journalism ethics without seeming too high and mighty. Using Sherry Ricchiardi's story "Distorted Picture" as a teaching tool helped me drive home the point that we have to be dedicated to telling the unfettered truth first and foremost, even with images.
