Afghanistan Coverage

Thanks for your article on the lack of news coverage out of Afghanistan ("Offscreen," October/November). As a former journalist and with a son serving there last year with the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, I find it enormously frustrating. Elizabeth Rubin's New York Times Magazine piece on a company in my son's brigade, as well as Sebastian Junger's Vanity Fair dispatches, also on the 173rd, were very welcome, as was Michael Phillips' reporting in the Wall Street Journal. But it was hard to find regular, consistent coverage, particularly on the overall deteriorating strategic picture, until recently.
