The skinny: McCaffrey, an outspoken critic of the war plan, maintained a high profile, frequently popping up on NBC, MSNBC and CNBC, as well as local stations. He says he chose these related networks because he likes anchors Tom Brokaw and Brian Williams. He hired a researcher just to help him with his workload.
