It seems the "goes to an obscure dotcom" headlines will never end. Former New York Daily News Editor in Chief Debby Krenek and former Los Angeles Times Publisher Kathryn M. Downing join Web start-ups. Krenek, who resigned from the Daily News in March after two-and-a-half years at its helm, heads up petplace.com, a pet news and information site. Downing, who was let go by the Times' new owner, Tribune Co., in April, becomes chief executive of Mypotential.com, a healthy-living site run by spiritual well-being master Deepak Chopra and his daughter Mallika . Says Krenek of her nontraditional move: "It gives me a chance to really create a Web site from the ground up.... It's a different thing...a great learning experience and a lot of fun."Krenek, a cocker spaniel owner, oversees content and design at the site. Downing's dotcom won't launch until later this year. ###
