Headline writers of America stepped up to the plate--how could they not?--when Major League Baseball struck a deal instead of just striking at the end of August. Though minor league headliners stayed on the straight and narrow, issuing heads like "Strike averted," the real pros batted their clichés out of the park. Here's a sampling:
