The star-crossed reign of Jesse Washington at the hip hop magazine Blaze comes to a sudden end. Washington, the magazine's editor in chief since its August debut, was physically assaulted in his office by four men in November and said he was threatened with a gun by a recording artist last summer because of editorial decisions. Washington told the Associated Press that he was fired after writing an editorial defending the man who was acquitted of killing the son of Time Warner Chairman Gerald Levin. (Time Warner co-founded Vibe magazine, which launched Blaze.) Neither Washington nor a Blaze spokeswoman could be reached for comment.... Washington City Paper reporter Jake Tapper, a.k.a. the man who wrote about his date with Monica Lewinsky, becomes Salon's Washington correspondent. He fills part of the vacancy that resulted when Jonathan Broder left the Washington bureau chief post in the wake of the online magazine's controversial story on Rep. Henry Hyde's affair.... Amy Pagnozzi, a former New York Daily News and New York Post columnist and reporter, heads to Connecticut to write a general news column for the Hartford Courant.
