Bigger and Ledbetter Things

Former Village Voice columnist joins the ranks of the Netheads.

Lori Robertson (robertson.lori@gmail.com), a former AJR managing editor, is a senior contributing writer for the magazine.

Longtime Village Voice columnist James Ledbetter retires from writing his Press Clips rundown to join the ranks of the Netheads. After eight and a half years at the New York weekly, Ledbetter becomes the New York bureau chief at The Industry Standard (www.thestandard.net), a weekly print and online magazine that covers the Internet economy. Ledbetter, 33, says he's looking forward to something different: "After 400 or so media columns, you find yourself saying the same thing you said a few years back." In his new role, which he assumed in September, he'll be primarily covering "the large New York-based traditional media companies..examining what they are doing or not doing with new media." That subject, says Industry Standard Editor in Chief Jonathan Weber, is an "oddly undercovered story." Ledbetter will be adding about five staffers to his brand new bureau to help the San Francisco-based Standard get a handle on NYC.
