By Lori Robertson
Lori Robertson (robertson.lori@gmail.com), a former AJR managing editor, is a senior contributing writer for the magazine.

Michael Ruby, who served as a co-editor of U.S. News & World Report with his wife, Merrill (Mimi) McLoughlin, from 1989 until 1996, becomes deputy editor of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. In the new position, Ruby will develop enterprise and projects reporting throughout the paper and serve as a writing coach. Editor Martin Kaiser says he hopes Ruby will "make us better" and bring "the polish that you do for magazine writing" to the paper. A native of the Chicago/Milwaukee area, Ruby, 55, says he accepted the position because he "found the professional challenge pretty stimulating... The charge is to help sort of raise the quality of the paper at every level."
